Ministries

OTHER MINISTRIES

We view all our activities in conjunction with the church as ministries, whether it is the business of the church, communicating our beliefs with non-believers, or just sharing the good word with each other. The collection of New Hope Friends ministries below demonstrates the diverse ways we can hear and answer to the will of God. If you would like to help us in any of these ministries, or if you have other ministerial opportunities we might be interested in (we are always looking for where we may be called to serve), please contact us at (919) 778-2550.

Connect Team

The first face of the church that welcomes everyone who enters the worship space. Our connect team is full of people who help ensure comfort in the worship experience and who ministers to people in a variety of practical ways. The specific responsibilities of the connect vary with the church but their duties usually include greeting people as they arrive for the worship, handing out bulletins, servicing the pulpit, assisting people with special needs, collecting the offering and after worship the ushers will then make sure that the sanctuary is cleaned up.

Elders

The Elders act as the spiritual leaders of the church. They provide pastoral oversight for the spiritual and moral welfare of the church. This team is generally comprised of individuals who are well acquainted with members of the congregation and who exhibit spiritual maturity, compassion, and Christ-like behavior. This allows them to better sense the movement of the Holy Spirit through the church.

Men’s Ministry

Quaker Men are organized for fellowship and service. They foster a close fellowship among the men of New Hope Friends through monthly dinners as well as other activities. The Quaker Men sponsor an annual golf tournament to raise money to carry on projects and support charitable endeavors. Quaker Men give their time to help those in need in our church and community. Quaker Men meet monthly at the church for breakfast on the first Thursday of every month at 8:00AM.

Women’s Ministry – United Society Friends Women (USFW)

The Women’s Ministry purpose is to reach out to women and provide an opportunity for fellowship, inspiration, education and service. The USFW meets on the third Wednesday night each month at 7:00 pm.

Using this vehicle of ministry, we strive…

To grow in our Christian walk through study, prayer and fellowship.

To enlarge our vision and understanding of missions among Friends and also worldwide ministries.

To be of service to our church and community in missionary endeavors.

To practice stewardship of time, talents and money. To encourage each other through prayer and fellowship.

JOY (Just Older Youth)

This group is for women and men of all ages. Lead by Edith Mitchell the group enjoys a lot of activities and fellowship together during the month.

Music Ministry

A wonderful part of the worship experience at New Hope Friends Church is the Music Ministry. New Hope Friends Church is a growing group of talented singers and musicians under the direction of our Choir Director Hayley Fly. If you’re a gifted singer or musician we invite you to become a part of the music ministry at New Hope Friends Church as we lift Him up!

Library

New Hope Friends Church has a library of life-enriching resources for all ages and all members of the community.

Pastor

Under the direction of the elders, New Hope Friends maintains pastoral leadership for the congregation. The pastor is an elder who is responsible for shepherding the congregation and individuals in their Christian worship, spiritual growth, and religious education.

Our pastor is Andrew Hise.

Youth Group

This group is for teens and pre-teens in 6th through 12th grades.

Security Team

The security team was established to maintain safety and security of all involved in our worship services. This team conducts a sweep of the entire church, inside and outside, looking for anything suspicious. They lock any doors that do not need to be unlocked. During worship services this team monitors cameras that are posted in different areas outside the church perimeter. This team must be able to deter, detect, and respond to threats and emergencies.

Technology Team

The Tech Team is comprised of two parts: audio and visual. This team is responsible for all things “tech” in the church, including sound mixing, audio engineering, livestream worship, networking, visual media during worship, and our church website. This group of volunteers run the soundboard for worship services including sound checks and sound mixing for live and online worship. They also create and present wonderful slides for worship lyrics, announcements and scripture that are presented during worship through Propresenter and are displayed online. One person on this team maintains our church’s social media presence and another (the Webmaster) creates and maintains our church website.

Committees

Committees are the lifeblood of the church. Each committee has their own specific duties and responsibilities. Committees occasionally meet together to discuss the meeting’s programs and activities. Each committee is comprised of regular church members selected to fill positions for a certain period of time. New Hope Friends Church has committees for the following areas:
