New Hope Friends Church
HOPE Groups
At New Hope, we want all people to have a sense of belonging as they grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. One of the ways that we cultivate that sense of belonging is through HOPE groups.
What are HOPE Groups?
Hope Groups are small group communities based on the actions taken by the early church in Acts 2:42:
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Based on this verse, HOPE groups seek to exemplify four qualities:
Hospitable: The early church broke bread together, showing a level of hospitality and community.
Open: The early church was open to diversity and vulnerability through fellowship.
Purposeful: The early church was not just a social gathering; they had a purpose which is shown by their desire for prayer.
Equipping: The early church gathered so that they could equip each other for ministry work and for gospel living through devotion to the apostle’s teachings.
